Easter

The boys had Thursday, Friday and Monday off this past week for Spring Break. So on Friday we decided to color Easter Eggs. I found a Camo Egg kit at Wal-Mart and thought it looked like fun.

Getting the eggs started. You will have to excuse the pj bottoms and swimsuit.
First you dye the egg one of the lighter colors. Then put camo stickers all over it and dye it a darker color.

Here's a different one.

This is how it turned out.

Jakob made me an egg.

This one was done by Seth. It says Happy Easter, not to bad.

Jakob dropped one of his so he peeled it and said he was going to eat it. He never did eat it. Oh, and excuse the garage too.

Saturday we went into town to the annual Easter Egg hunt. Not sure what happened over night, but it went from 80 to 50. Man it was cold Saturday. The event started at 10 and since I had never been there before I thought the egg hunt was right away. Oh no, that didn't start until 11. So we walked around and played some games to pass the time.

Here we are at the top of the Musky looking at all the people.

Jake catching fish.

And now Seth catching the fish.

One of the games was casting a fishing pole and trying to get the weight into the rings. The boys didn't do to bad with this one. Well until Seth casted the line into a tree. We were done after that.

Oh look, Jakob catching a trout.

And now once again Seth catching a trout.

Another game was the old walk with an egg in a spoon race. Jake won, the poor girl got all the way to the end and then her egg fell off.

Another one was were you tried to catch ping pong balls in a net. They were dropped from the musky's mouth. Just so you know this game does not work well when it's windy out.

This one is where the kids tried to make a basket with a ball that is thrown off a parachute. The lady in the black coat is Mrs. Wunrow Seth's teacher.
Now it's time for the egg hunt. Jakob and Seth were in different age groups so I didn't get to see Jakob get his eggs. Right before they went out I heard one of the moms tell her kid to only get three eggs. So I in turn told Seth to only get three eggs. He looked at me like I had lost my mind. Needless to say he got more then three.

Jakob is in there somewhere.

Here is their buckets when they were done. Like I said before, we had never done this here before. So when the boys came and told me that all the eggs were empty I was a little shocked. I thought maybe there were some with paper in them saying you won a prize. But we got a ticket on the way in for a raffle so I really didn't know what to tell the boys. We went to the raffle part and of course we didn't win anything there. But before we left I heard another mom tell her kid that they could go turn in the eggs and get the bad of candy. So that would explain why you only get three eggs a piece. Before you left the park each child got a baggie of candy so it would be fair and no one would get hurt during the hunt. Pretty good idea.

Next it was off to Duluth to get to the Old Navy $5 polo sale. I still hadn't gotten the boys anything to wear for Easter. And of course since I brought the boys with we had to stop at the shore of Lake Superior so they could run around the rocks.

Oh and also throw rocks into the water. Can't forget that either.

Sunday morning the boys ran around the house looking for their baskets. It took them over an hour to find them. Thank goodness we went to 9:00 church.

Seth with his basket and wearing his new polo. : )

Poor Jake he had the hardest time finding his basket. Dang Easter bunny.

They also opened their gifts from Grandma Shaw.
Jakob and his basket, also wearing his new polo shirt.

Hope everyone had a Happy Easter!!!!!

Polar Plunge 2010

Saturday March 20th was the Polar Plunge and again Jamie jumped in memory of his dad. He raised over $600 for the church team. And the church raised over $6,000 together, which won them top honors of most raised for the second year in a row. This year they dressed up as the different branches of the service. They had Air Force, Army, Marines, Navy and Coast Guard all covered.

Jamie got registered right away when we got there.

With the amount he raised he got a free t-shirt and sweatshirt, which as you can see were green this year. Last year they were blue, so I think I might have to steal this years shirts.

There was another team running around giving people eggs. And inside the eggs you either got candy or a ticket for a free shirt. Jakob got one of the tickets.

And thankfully so did Seth. So they each got their own shirt too.

As Jamie was digging through his old Air Force clothes Jake was taking them and trying them on. So he dressed up for the plunge also.

Here is the First Lutheran Church group. All of them jumped, except my two boys in front and the little girl on Pastor Scott's shoulders.

How cute are they??

Here is our Navy and I also over heard the lady in grey say that this is her last jump. She is now 70 and felt it was time to stop.

As you can see the ice on the lake melted a little early this year. So unlike last year we were not able to stand on the ice and watch. We had to stand up on the shore. There was a little ice on the shore line for the people to run off of. Jamie said it was a lot deeper this year and you had to swim back to shore if you went to far out on your jump.

Here's Jamie's jump. He is the one on the right.

Jakob's Birthday

Jakob turned 9 on the 9th. His golden birthday!! We did the normal birthday day for him. I picked Jake and Seth up from school and took them to Dairy Queen. I always ask them what they want to eat for there birthday. They get to pick either going out to eat anywhere they want in town or I will make whatever they want to eat. This year Jake asked for goulash and Dairy Queen, so we had dessert first. Can't complain with that.

Here's Jake with his birthday hat from school and his goulash. Next he wanted to do cards and gifts.

While he was opening gifts Jamie surprised him with silly string. He thought that was the coolest thing and wanted to do more.

And here is Jamie cleaning up his silly string.

Cards and gifts.

Jamie was pulling a Johnny Carson and was trying to guess what each gift was before Jakob opened it. Seth guessed a phone for every gift.

All his gifts of the night. Can you tell the boy likes gaming. Next up was cupcakes. I also let the boys pick if they want a cake or cupcakes. And he picked cupcakes again.

Seth and Jakob with the cupcakes. Of course Seth has to get into at least one picture. He can't let his brother have all the fun.

Here's a better picture.

And now time to eat them. : )

Last year's picture. It's amazing to see how much older they are getting and changing.
Update on me: I am scheduled for surgery on March 16th. I had my pre-op on the 10th and everything is a go. My counts are all up to were they need to be except for two. But the doctor said they were close enough. After that it is on to checkups every 3 months for a year or two. So it looks like the end or all this is right around the corner. I can't wait to get there.

Fishing Tournament

We went to the Family Fishing Tournament again this year. And again we didn't do very well. But it was fun to be out and enjoy the day.

Josh and Jamie set up a bunch of tip ups. We got two flags, but there was nothing on the end when they got to them.
This is were I spent most of the day. Josh had the heater going and also his new fish finder. I really like it. There is a fake fish on the end of a video cable and you can see the fish swimming around ignoring your bait. OK so I got a little frustrated but it was nice to see there was actually something swimming down there.

Jamie brought our portable camping grill and some brats. So we had a little picnic while we were out there. The boys and I ate in the truck to stay warm.

Here is about the only time you will see Jamie holding a beer. He used it for the brats.

Now this is where everyone else was compared to us. I think they knew something we don't.

The boys played in the truck most of the time to keep themselves entertained. The tournament started at 9 a.m. and went until 3 p.m.

Here are our two biggest fish for the day. Needless to say they are not that big. And by the time Jamie and Josh had everything packed up it was past 3 so we couldn't register them. Once we got back to shore I asked to go up and see if other people had better luck then us. All I can say is those other fish were HUGE. I wish I would have brought my camera up there and took some pictures of them. There is no way we would have come close to winning. But it was nice to spend the day with my family so that's all that mattered.

Update on me: I am now done with chemo and couldn't be happier. As of right now my surgery for the hysterectomy will be March 16th. And then I will go back for check ups every 3 months for a year or so. So I decided to leave my port in for a bit longer. I would love to take it out the same time as my surgery. But with all the check ups I thought it would be better to leave it in. Once again thanks for all your thoughts and prayers for us.

Pinewood Derby

Sorry I once again haven't been on here in awhile.

A few weeks ago Jakob had his first Pinewood Derby through Boy Scouts. And of course I forgot my camera to take pictures of the race.

They had a very nice track for the kids. It was all computerized and lights added to it to show which lane won. With it being computerized within seconds it would show on a screen who won and how fast they all were going. They had each car race on all four tracks with a different set of cars each time. Then the computer would put all the times together and figured out who won in each age group. It was very nicely done. Unfortunately Jake's car didn't go as fast as the others. But he still had a good time.

Here a couple of pictures of the car Jamie and Jakob designed and made.

Update on me: I only have one treatment left. Yeah!!!!!! I'm so happy to be so close to being done. I know I still have another surgery, but I will be so happy when the chemo is done. At least with the surgery I get good painkillers. : )
This last time the joint pain got pretty bad on Sunday. Now is seems to be getting better again. I am losing finger nails also. Of course they weren't that pretty to start with, but I do hope they come back. I look like I have been watching to many scary movies and bit all my nails off. Other then that it's the same old, same old. Just trying to keep up with the boys and all there stuff.
